AFC Bournemouth stand in captain Simon Francis believes the recent in-season training camp in the United Arab Emirates will have given Eddie Howe and the backroom staff ideas for the future.

During the international break, the Cherries squad that were not involved with their countries travelled to Dubai for a short training camp at the Nad Al Sheba sports complex.

During their time away, the Cherries players completed three training sessions, but also experienced some different training techniques.

One included a three minute blast in a cryogenic pod, designed specifically to provoke ‘a process of muscle regeneration and immune-system stimulation’.

Another was a bike session, in a chamber where ‘the altitude’ could change by taking air out of the room, making it harder to breathe.

Francis told the Daily Echo

‘…We are fortunate to be at a club that has the backing of the owner and the money that has come in from getting promoted.

“It has enabled us to invest in things like the training ground, which is absolutely top class, and I am sure going out to Dubai has given the gaffer, his staff and the club ideas about what else we can do to move forward.”
