As the transfer window prepares to slam shut at 11 pm this (Tuesday) evening, can AFC Bournemouth get a couple more signings across the line to add to Dango Ouattara, Mathias Vina, Darren Randolph and Antoine Semenyo?

The Cherries hierarchy are certainly hopeful and social media is abuzz with three potential targets, in particular, two getting a lot of attention.

Two of those deals have seen AFC Bournemouth agree fees with the player’s clubs for a combined total of around £ 45 million, taking the Cherries January transfer window spending beyond the £75 million mark.

The first is attacking midfielder Hamed Traore, the 22-year-old Ivory Coast international is reportedly already on his way to England to complete a medical and finalise personal terms.

After a controversial move to Europe from Africa, Traore has gained experience in Serie A with Empoli and Sassuolo and has made four appearances for his country.

Another reported target, where a fee has been agreed upon, is for Ukrainian centre-back Ilya Zabarnyi from Dynamo Kiev.

AFC Bournemouth have agreed on a deal worth £24 million for the 20-year-old and like Hamed Traore, Zabarnyi is now set to complete his medical ahead of a move to Dean Court.

A product of the youth system at Dynamo Kiev, Zabarnyi is 6ft 2″ and has made 70 appearances for the club helping his side to win the Ukrainian Premier League, Ukrainian Cup and Ukrainian Super Cup.

He has also made nine appearances in UEFA Champions League and four appearances in UEFA Europa League.

On the international stage, following his debut in October 2020, he has made 24 appearances and could be heavily involved in their 2024 UEFA European Championship qualifying campaign which begins in March at Wembley against England.

Another name that has only just started doing the rounds is that of Tottenham Hotspur player Oliver Skipp.

He is reportedly of interest to AFC Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Fulham, however, Senior Football Writer for The Sun newspaper Tom Barclay has tweeted that it is unlikely that Skipp will be allowed to leave Spurs today.

Skipp has made 64 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur since making his debut for the club in October 2018.

He has also made 47 appearances whilst on loan with Norwich City during the 2020/21 season where his adopted side won the Football League Championship.

Skipp has represented England throughout all youth levels from Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-21.

Intent Proven

Well, whatever happens from now and whoever remains to sign – we have seen Foley not only keep but exceed his promises. My idea/hope was that his non-specific budget might be £40m. That’s been blown out of the water. We’ve secured and got close to signing players of a higher calibre than we ever have and work on the Training Ground is also progressing.
I’ve parked my thoughts on Blake and Hughes because Foley will judge them and if he finds them up to the job then he is in a much better place to do so. Fwiw I can’t ever remember criticising Hughes as he is a nice guy – intelligent and has language skills and good contacts. The proof of the pudding will always be who he recruits.
Given the progress already made, I have no doubt whatsoever that behind the scenes there is dialogue re the Stadium situation too. Exciting times chezzas. – To join the conversation, click here.
