AFC Bournemouth have this morning announced that they have signed Daryl Taylor, a 21 year old wide midfield player on a month to month contract.

Taylor was on the books at Walsall but was released over the summer after spells on loan to newly promoted Conference side Hereford United since March 2005.

He broke back into the Saddlers side during the last 3 games of the season, but with the new manager Richard Money wielding the changes at the Saddlers, he was released just two season’s after being promoted from being a trainee.

The pacey, 5ft 10, midfielder can play wide on the right, in centre midfield and pushed on in attack.

WalsallFans.co.uk player profile for Daryl said…

‘Daryl Taylor has pace to burn and a trick up his sleeve. Your typical winger. He has all the qualities to make it. Consistency and the ability to go missing during games are the only negatives – as with most wingers.’

He first broke into the Walsall team last season (2004/05) and in sensational form he scored 3 goals in his first 3 games. But failed to cement a place in the side. He joined Hereford on loan in March 2005 where he picked up a knee injury.

He missed the build up to the 2005/06 season while he continued to recover and then re-joined Hereford on loan. He was recalled to the Walsall team at the end of last season, starting the last 3 games of Walsall’s relegation run in, he made over 30 appearances for the midlands club.

When his release was announced Vital Walsall said…

‘Daryl Taylor who burst onto the scene under Paul Merson, hailed as a possible match winner. However he failed to match these expectations and a number of poor performances, most noticable away at Port Vale brought the wrath of the fans on his back.

He was then given a chance to take stock on loan at Hereford where unfortunatley he badly injured his knee. The right sided winger battled back but never quite seemed the same player. He seemed nervous and cautious of going into tackles, a hangover from such a serious injury I am sure.

This season he was again loaned out to Hereford where he didn’t pull up any trees so to speak. In our final game it must be said he didn’t disgrace himself and was brought down for our penalty.’
