AFC Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter believed that the Cherries had been showing signs of getting a result like the home victory against Doncaster in recent weeks.

Despite taking just two points from a possible twelve, the Cherries performances against the likes of Leicester, Burnley, Derby and Bolton had been excellent.

Narrow defeats to Premier League promotion hopefuls Leicester and Derby and a draws with Burnley and Bolton have really highlighted the progression that AFC Bournemouth have made during this Championship campaign.

One of the stories of the season has been Eddie Howe’s sides dominating possession, but failing to take their chances, whilst also failing to keep clean sheets. But with a 5-0 victory, everything came together on Saturday against last seasons League One champions, with Arter bagging a brace.

Arter told BBC Radio Solent

“We said after the game that the result has been coming, We played top sides in the last four games and to come away with minimal points was disappointing, so we saw this as an opportunity to grab the game by the neck and win it.

“We won the game comfortably but we have been playing like that for a few games, the luck just wasn`t on our side. Fortunately it was against Doncaster.

“I don`t want to be disrespectful to them because they have picked up some good results this season, but I think we showed how far we have progressed as a team.

“It has to be our aim to leave teams like them behind, kick on and finish as high as we can because it could be an exciting end to the season.”
