AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Ryan Allsop has joined Blackpool on loan for the entirety of the 2017/18 season.

The now 25 year old joined the Cherries in January 2013 on a free transfer from Leyton Orient.

He broke into the side in March of that year, replacing Shwan Jalal and after defeat to Doncaster Rovers on his debut, the Cherries would go on to win 8 consecutive games clinching promotion from League One.

Allsop maintained his place as first choice as the Cherries began the 2013/14 season in the Championship, but after three months he lost his place to new signing Lee Camp.

Since that point he has only played a bit part role in AFC Bournemouth’s climb from the second tier into the Premier League.

The 2014/2015 promotion season Allsop spent on loan with League One Coventry City playing 27 times.

The 2015/16 season saw Allsop make his Premier League debut, replacing injured Adam Federici at half time against Everton.

However he spent the remainder of the season on loan with League Two sides Wycombe (18 appearances) and Portsmouth (2 play-off appearances).

Last season due to injuries to both Artur Boruc and Adam Federici he made his first Premier League start on the final day of the season at Leicester City.

However since the £8million signing of Asmir Begovic, Allsop has slipped further down the pecking order.

Allsop told blackpoolfc.co.uk

“It`s a great club and I know the goalkeeping coach very well, so I look forward to working with him. I want to come here and play as many games as possible and push on with my career, I can get settled here now and fully concentrate on my football and progressing myself, and hopefully this club as well.”

Blackpool manager Gary Bowyer added…

“I`d like to thank Eddie Howe and Bournemouth for allowing us to bring Ryan to the club. He`s a very good goalkeeper and someone that Dave Timmins has coached before.

“His arrival strengthens our goalkeeping department and provides stern competition for a place in the team.”

‘Whilst this is a good move for him to get football is he ever realistically going to be our number 1 or 2? He has experience In league one with us already. Couldn’t get in our championship team and we also have Ramsdale now.’Join the conversation here.
