AFC Bournemouth are reportedly close to the re-signing of Nathan Ake, but this time it is on a permanent basis from Premier League champions Chelsea.

Football writer for the Guardian and Observer newspapers Stuart James tweeted on Wednesday that a deal could be concluded before the weekend.

The deal as previously reported would be worth around £20million, with the Dutch international signing a five year contract at Dean Court.

On Thursday afternoon the Evening Standard reported that…

‘Ake flies back from holiday to complete £20m transfer to Bournemouth’

The report added…

‘His strong relationship with coach Eddie Howe, who tried to agree a permanent deal back in January, is a key factor behind the decision to return to Bournemouth.’

Ake made the move to the Cherries on a season long loan deal during pre-season 2016.

The then Netherlands Under 21 international had impressed following a run of starts in the Premier League where he has scored three goals.

He initially had to bide his time to break into the AFC Bournemouth XI, but when his chance came he held on to the shirt and ended his loan spell with 12 appearances, 8 of which were consecutive starts in the Premier League.

He was later recalled to Chelsea to play a small role in their Premier League championship season.

If so then it’s a great player to have in the squad and I wonder if it’s going to mean an intense preseason for Cookie to change to the right side of CB? That could rebalance our CB resources quite nicely with Cookie or Francis one side and Ake or Mings on the other.

Still hoping for a RB and can’t recall links to any of the top of my head… feels a bit greedy to be asking for more but I’ve never been a child in a rich house in the run up to Christmas so what the heck, I want everything!
