The Cherries made a number of changes from the opening weekend’s victory over Blackburn Rovers.
Tindall handed full debuts for Zemura and Ofoborh, Begovic a rare start and Harry Arter returned to Dean Court in an AFC Bournemouth shirt and ran the game.
AFC Bournemouth manager Jason Tindall told the Daily Echo…
“When it went around again, I felt it was going to be the same thing but fortunately Brooksy scored and Crystal Palace missed.
“It’s never nice when you go to penalties, there’s always got to be a losing team and that was Palace. But fortunately enough for us, it was us that went through to the next round…”
“…Over the course of the 90 minutes, I felt we were the better side.
“I felt we scored a goal that, in my opinion, was onside. Looking at it back I felt Sam was two yards onside.
“And we created quite a few chances in the game, so I felt if anyone was going to win the game in the 90 minutes it was going to be us.”
Jason Tindall was full of praise for the Bournemouth debut boys tonight

Breathless, looked up at the scoreboard and thought it was the time, then realised it was the score. 21 unbelievable penalties. Two games into the new season and the nerves are frazzled. pic.twitter.com/6ydx12DcFx

Zemura was absolutely fantastic. Ofoborh was good too considering he is a defensive midfielder playing at centre back and right wing-back against a decent palace side. I am Lewis Cook’s biggest admirer, but I thought he was very poor for the first half, picked up in the second. Philip Billing was good, but not good enough to dislodge Jefferson Lerma or Cook in midfield. Lerma looked assured in centre back, which I think could be an option in the future. Jack Simpson was very assured on and off the ball, definitely suits him being the central defender of the back three, I feel. David Brooks, I thought was poor, but Dominic Solanke was a live wire when he came on, very sharp.
Good game, good result and winning mentality to take back into Saturday’s clash with boro!
Your say…

It was a non-event game but it was really refreshing to see our lot playing with energy and making themselves available for the ball. I like Tindallball so far! – Join the conversation, click here.
