AFC Bournemouth’s promotion chances are in the balance

Not because of the performance and result on Saturday against Luton Town, but because there’s been a slow decline since the extremely good start we had earlier in the season.

I think Scott Parker is a good manager and he has an equally good team around him. We also have a very good squad, certainly talented and good enough at this level to compete and challenge, far more so than in 2014/15. However, while the 2014/15 squad lacked the talent they had incredible passion, commitment and togetherness, they fought for every crumb of opportunity and they fought for their teammates, the supporters and the club.

The only person that we had in this year’s squad with the passion we need is now at Nottingham Forest. Fairly or unfairly I am increasingly of the view that these players do not care as much; as talented as he is I think Lloyd Kelly is, he’s a weak captain, there isn’t an ounce of passion from him emanating on the pitch and that sets the scene. Of the remainder, perhaps Jefferson Lerma, Jack Stacey, and Ryan Christie at times show something but as for the rest, I’m not convinced that they really ‘want’ as much as Parker, the board, the club and the supporters really want.

I would far rather watch a Bournemouth team with passion and less talent, as we’ve seen what that kind of team can achieve. Hopefully, there will be one or two signings that will bring about the change that’s needed on the pitch and then we’ll see the difference I’m sure.

Agree that our chances of top two became harder after Saturday but again, it all seems so doom and gloom… We’re still second and as has been said, we didn’t play badly, it just wasn’t good enough…

It’s really bloody fine margins between us on 50 points, all talking about a spirited second half and come back, and still a bit of space between us and Blackburn… to us talking about play offs and how bad we’ve become…

It was one kick and a great goal… That was it… it happens.

For me, we’ve still got plenty in us to pick up enough points to be right up there.

When we accuse these lads of lacking passion and fight, you only have to look at the devastation on the floor at the final whistle to see how much that loss meant…

I think we just need to sit back and realise that the 14/15 side were a unit for several years and through adverse times at the club… We are in a very different place these days… We probably need to stop comparing our sides to ‘that’ team…

Fulham will probably win this title but we are as good, and bad as anyone up the top challenging… we just need to be more positive folks…

Three points v Hull and we’ll all be looking at things differently again… – Join the conversation, click here.

I agree that the team doesn’t have the passion when it comes to it .they are the best team in the championship
But don’t seem to want it as much as their lower teams .it seems that they lack the fire other teams have

Look we are a one man attack. If dom don’t net.we don’t win

Any promotion side needs two forwards netting twenty each any side marking dom stops us and we don’t win we have been sussed out

I think with Zemura playing LB and his room mate playing LW bound together with Big, daddy long legs, Billing regularly we are half wat to the Prem.
