Our next game is a break from the Premier League and back to the League Cup, our side have reached the fourth round with a 2-3 away win against Championship side Swansea City in the second round and then in the third round our side beat Stoke City 2-0 who also play in the Championship.

Our opponents in the fourth round are Liverpool. They entered the League Cup in the third round and they were home at Anfield against Championship side Leicester City. The Merseysiders made 10 changes for that game and beat the Championship side 3-1. Jurgen Klopp and his team play the Cherries on Wednesday 1st November at 7.45 pm.

Liverpool have won the League Cup nine times, the most by any club. They won in 1980-81, 1981-82, 1982-83, 1983-84, 1994-95, 2000-01, 2002-03, 2011-12, 2021-22. The most recent victory was on the 27th February 2022 at Wembley Stadium. The game finished goalless after extra time and Liverpool won 11-10 on penalties.

The Cherries have only met Liverpool twice in this competition, both at home and away. AFCB lost on both occasions. The last time our sides met was in October 2015 at Anfield, one goal decided the game scored by defender Nathaniel Clyne, who later came to Dean Court on loan for a short period from January to May 2019. The game at Dean Court was the previous season and our side lost 1-3.

AFCB Team News
Marcos Senesi missed the Burnley game with a muscular injury. Lewis Cook suspended.

AFCB Player To Watch
Even though Antoine Semenyo started against Burnley and scored our first goal, he was withdrawn in the 69th minute, possibly with Wednesday’s game in mind. So if he starts expect him to lead the line like he did against Stoke City for 45 minutes. He looked sharp against Burnley.

Liverpool Team News
Andrew Robertson, Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara have all been out injured. Luis Diaz was absent for Sunday’s game re personal family reasons involving his kidnapped father which has been mentioned in the media.

Liverpool Player To Watch
Liverpool are likely to make changes again, so will go for Diogo Jota who scored the third goal against Leicester City in the last round, also played the whole game. Also played 58 minutes on Sunday and scored then ran over to the touchline in a nice gesture of support to hold up Luis Diaz shirt to the Liverpool players and the crowd.

The Referee
John Brooks is in charge of this game, he was our referee at Brighton.
