Younger to Weymouth

Weymouth, via their ex-AFCB player and now manager of The Terra’s, Jason Tindall, confirmed today that Neil Young had joined them on an initial one-month loan deal.

AFCB have also agreed to let Younger play in Weymouth’s FA Cup 1st Round game, causing him to be cup-tied and ineligible if The Cherries wish to use him later on in the season.

The move appears so bizarre considering manager Kevin Bond recently ranted at fans because he only had “11 fit players”. If this is the case, why is he happily shipping out a man with experience and a senior squad member? Yes, he is recovering from an injury and so not on top form at the moment, but he is a number within the squad?! With AFCB currently experiencing their annual defensive injury crisis as well, it was expected Younger would be playign a part in the next couple of games, including tomorrow at Bristol Rovers.

To me, the facts just don’t add up.

Unsurprisingly, Jason Tindall was delighted with the capture. he told the ‘Dorset Echo’:

“It is not very often that a club like Weymouth can sign a player of the quality and experience of Neil Young. He is a leader and two out of the last three seasons he has been Bournemouth’s player of the year.”

And I think his opinion on what The Cherris fans feel about the move was also correct!

“I am sure a lot Bournemouth fans will be disappointed to see him come down here because he is a very popular player there but I am just delighted to have him here.”

Obviously this is a move that is not going to be getting Cherries fans filled with confidence, especially with a manager who has recently been calling for his head after a disastrous start to the season.

It has to be pointed out however, that the news isn’t on the AFCB or Weymouth offical websites yet.
