Would You Be Pleased With A Point At Turf Moor?

After the defeat to Sheffield United, the Cherries had their Winter break. The next game will be another trip up North, only this time to Turf Moor to face Sean Dyche’s Burnley team. This will be a tough game against a Burnley side taking 10 points out of a possible 12, in their last four games. This has taken them to 11th place on 34 points. It looks like Burnley and Dyche will be in the Premier League next season. The question is, will he be the second or first longest-lasting manager at their club in the Premier League? If some of the media/pundits are to be believed, he could be.

After Burnley’s victory back in December at Dean Court, they lost their next four league games. First away against Everton, then two at home against Manchester United and Aston Villa. Burnley then travelled down to London to play Chelsea and lost. This was followed with two big wins, at home against Leicester City and away at Old Trafford beating Manchester United. They then drew at home with Arsenal and in their last game they won away at Southampton.

Our last three games against Burnley in the Premier League have ended in defeats. Our last visit to Turf Moor ended in a 4-0 defeat. In a game where the stats, other than the goals, tell a different story. The Cherries had 62% possession and 19 shots against the hosts 12 shots, with both sides equal with 5 shots on target. The score was 2-0 at half-time and substitute Ashley Barnes scored two late goals to double the score.
In all league games at Turf Moor AFCB have Won 1, Drawn 6, Lost 6. In all competitions, AFCB have Won 6, Drawn 11, Lost 14.

Burnley Team News
They could be without their two main strikers, Chris Wood is a doubt with a hamstring problem after going off at Southampton. The game seems to be too soon for Ashley Barnes after his operation. This will probably mean Jay Rodriguez partnering Matej Vydra upfront. Other injury doubts are to Matthew Lowton with a knee injury, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, thigh injury.
The January transfer window brought in one signing, the Bristol City captain and midfielder joined Burnley for a fee reported to be £9 million.

Burnley Player To Watch
Without Woods or Barnes, probably Jay Rodriguez scored the late goal against us at Dean Court. In midfield, Ashley Westwood is their leading player with 5 assists.

AFCB Team News
The good news is Jefferson Lerma will be back to add some steel in our midfield. So far since our last game, there have been no reported further injuries in the media or from the club. Also, the squad will be strengthened with Josh King and Jack Stacey back, having a bit more time to recover.

AFCB Player To Watch
After some time out injured, Josh King was back in the squad at Sheffield. With him and an improving Callum Wilson back together, we have some pace and bite back upfront.

Your say…

We need to move away from West Ham while they are on this run of impossible fixtures so they come out of them demoralised and looking at a points gap.

If they come out of it with easier fixtures and no gap to make out it will boost them. That’s why it was a shame the player’s loss of concentration cost them at least a point against Sheff U. We are running out of games to keep trotting the same excuses out – Join the conversation, click here.
