AFC Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson is looking forward to the Dean Court doubleheader against two of Europe’s top clubs.

On Friday 3rd August, AFC Bournemouth play against their third side from Spain’s La Liga.

After a draw with Sevilla and victory over Levante, how will Eddie Howe’s side fair against Real Betis?

Less than 24 hours later it’s UEFA Europa League finalists Marseille.

It’s expected that AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe will split his squad across the two games to give the majority of his squad between 60 and 90 minutes, with the new Premier League campaign kicking off the following weekend.

Wilson believes the standard of the opposition will help the Cherries to start the season strongly.

Wilson told the Daily Echo

“…You don’t want to play against too much lower-league opposition in the English leagues.

“No disrespect to them but you wouldn’t get as much out of it as you could if you were playing against a La Liga or Ligue 1 team.

“You want tough tests and games which are going to replicate Premier League matches, that is what our schedule consists of this year.

“I am excited more than anything to have a good pre-season, get involved in the games and get up and running as soon as the season starts.”

Your say…

I see he didn’t play v Levante.
I noticed in one of the COWS training videos in the gym, he was wearing a knee bandage. I hope it’s nothing serious! – Join the conversation, click here.
