AFC Bournemouth’s Arsenal loanee Jack Wilshere is fully concentrating on the second half of the season on the south coast.
The England internationals future has been the media’s focus since he opted to make the move to Dean Court on a full season loan deal, ahead of options at Crystal Palace and in Italy with Roma and AC Milan.
But Wilshere insists his only focus is on helping the Cherries maintain their Premier League status for a third successive season.
A poor run of form has seen AFC Bournemouth drop to 14th in the top flight of English football, six points clear of the relegation places.
Wilshere told Sky Sports…
‘…I’m just concentrating on maintaining my fitness, playing games and I’m enjoying it. As long as I’m here I’m going to enjoy it and help Bournemouth…’
‘…I need to play, that’s why I came here. Bournemouth gave me that opportunity.
‘It’s a big time for this club. They’ve worked really hard to get to the position they are today.
‘We want to maintain our Premier League status and we know it’s going to be a big job. It’s going to be hard but we are up for it.’
…he is the type of quality of player that we need to improve….I don’t particularly like the guy but he has been very good for us IMO…pity that we don’t have a GK & CB of his ability…we probably wouldn’t be looking over our shoulders at this moment! – Join the conversation here.
