AFC Bournemouth have offered new contracts to both Adam Smith and Junior Stanislas, however, with just one month remaining on their current contracts the duo have yet to agree on new terms.

Smith, who turned 30 last month, was virtually an ever-present during the Cherries Championship campaign in 2020/21. Despite having strong competition for a place at right-back with Jack Stacey, Smith’s versatility saw him often slot in at left-back and in midfield, making 43 appearances in the second tier last season.

Over the course of his two spells on the south coast (the first coming over ten years ago on loan), Smith has made 284 appearances for the club in all competitions.

31-year-old Junior Stanislas has arguably enjoyed his best season in a Cherries shirt during the most recent campaign. The attacking winger scored 10 goals and claimed 4 assists in 35 appearances in the Championship, playing in a number of positions on the left-wing, right-wing and centrally.

Since making the move to Dean Court seven years ago, Stanislas has made 166 appearances for the club in all competitions scoring 37 times.

In a brief statement on afcb.co.uk the club said…

“Long-serving pair Junior Stanislas and Adam Smith were offered new contracts last autumn and continued negotiations throughout the campaign but both players wished to keep their options open until the end of the season. The club remains in discussion with their agents.”

It’s a tough one. I’m indifferent to Stanislas going purely due to his injury issues. Smith, we have an able back up in Stacey but hopefully, he will stay but it’s not really the end of the world if he goes. – Join the conversation, click here.
