Last season AFCB reached the 5th Round and West Brom the 4th Round.

West Brom are in a play-off place, being at present in 6th place in the Championship. Currently, they are without a manager after Carlos Corberan left them just before Christmas to join Valencia a team in his home country of Spain. In the meantime, Chris Brunt is the interim manager until a permanent appointment is made.

The Baggies have won the FA Cup on five occasions and been runners-up five times. The first time they reached the final was back in 1885-86, their opponents were Blackburn Rovers, the game was played at the Kennington Oval, it finished in a 1-1 draw. The replay was at the Racecourse Ground, Derby, Rovers won 2-0.

The first time they won the trophy was when they beat Preston North End in 1887-88 final and they were also winners in 1891-92 when their opponents were Aston Villa, in 1930-31 they beat Birmingham City. 1953-54 they beat Preston for the second time and the last time they held the trophy was in 1967-68 when they beat Everton. They were runners-up in 1885-86, also the following 1886-87 season, 1894-95, 1911-12 and 1934-35.

Our two sides have only met once in the FA Cup, the 3rd Round in January 1999, the Cherries won 1-0 and our scorer was Eddie Howe, attendance at Dean Court was 10,881.

In all competitions between AFCB and West Brom, AFCB have W 8, D 5, L 10.

AFCB Team News
Evanilson fractured his metatarsal in the game against Everton and has had surgery. We might see a start for some of those who have been on the bench of late and rest one or two other players, like Antoine Semenyo who was reported to be playing whilst not 100% fit for a number of games.

Now Enes Unal is also out long term through injury picked up in training.

AFCB Player To Watch
Might be a chance for one or two who are normally on bench.

West Brom Team News
No news on any injuries. They seem to be narrowing the candidates to be their new manager.

West Brom Player To Watch
Josh Maja their number 9 and leading scorer with 12 goals, he also has 2 assists. Scored a brace on New Year’s Day. Along with two other clubs, has been linked with AFCB as of interest in the January transfer window. Tom Fellows has the most assists in the Championship with 10, 3 assists in his last five games.

The Referee
John Busby is in charge of this game, we last had him away in September 2019 against Burton Albion in the League Cup.

I wonder if West Brom will ‘rest’ Josh Maja in order to prevent him from becoming cup tied and so increasing his sale value should someone come in for him in January. – To join the conversation, please click here.
