Another night to forget for AFCB. This time against West Brom going behind to two early goals to the home side being the only goals of the game and the disappointing thing with AFCB having 17 shots on goal and none on target. The last three evening games have been disappointing for our club taking two points in two home games and none away on Wednesday night. Games coming thick and fast, our next game which is number 8 of games to go is also away and our team and fans visit Bramall Lane to play Sheffield United. The game is a lunchtime kickoff at 12.45 pm and is the featured live game on Sky. Let’s hope the Cherries can bounce back and find their form from the last three Saturday games which produced 8 goals and 9 points.

When our two sides met in October at Dean Court, their manager was Slavisa Jokanovic. After some mixed results since our game at Dean Court, Jokanovic was sacked after the Blades first win in four games away at Reading. He was replaced with the Sheffield United under 23 manager Paul Heckinbottom.

Heckinbottom started off with three straight wins, including away at Fulham.
His record at home since he took over is 8 wins, 2 draws. Away from home, 4 wins, 3 draws and 4 defeats. So under Heckinbottom’s reign so far at home, they remain undefeated. The most recent game was on Tuesday night, the first of three consecutive home games starting with QPR. It finished 1-0 to the Blades. Sheffield United after 40 games and are in 6th position with 64 points.

The last time we met the Blades at Bramall Lane was in February 2020 in the Premier League. Callum Wilson opened the scoring for us in the 13th minute but Billy Sharp equalised in injury time just before half-time. The winning goal for Sheffield United came in the 84th minute after a pass from our old player Lys Mousset to John Lundstram who put the ball past Aaron Ramsdale to make it 2-1.

In our away games in the league, AFCB have W 1, D 2, L 5.
In all competitions, AFCB have W 2, D 5, L 11.

Sheffield United Team News
They have a number of injuries including Billy Sharp their leading scorer. Among others are Chris Basham and Charlie Goode.

Sheffield United Player To Watch
Morgan Gibbs-White, a strong all-round player and has scored 9 goals and is the joint leader with Billy Sharp with 7 assists. He scored their only goal at Dean Court.

AFCB Team News
Be interesting after the Wednesday night game and see if there are any changes. Seems there is a slight doubt re Solanke who was seen limping towards the end of the game.

AFCB Player To Watch
With no goals in Wednesday’s night game, we need to unlock defences and Dominic Solanke (if fit) to find the net again as he had in his last four games. Siriki Dembele could get a start and his fresh legs and skill could be the man like we saw against Bristol City.

The Man In Charge
Dean Whitestone is the referee.
A fairly familiar face this season for our games. The opening home game against West Brom and away games at Stoke, Millwall and Blackpool. In his 30 games in charge this season he has issued 88 yellow cards and 1 red.

Fully expected West Brom and Sheff Utd games to be our two hardest in the run-in given the way the opponents play. Another defeat will worry fans but need not be disastrous. No doubt the margin of safety will reduce considerably though if we lose.

Maybe this will act as a catalyst to focus players’ minds to get the job done plus pressure on challengers increases as they think automatic promotion is a possibility.

Hope we respond as we did at Huddersfield ! – Join the conversation, click here.
