Championship side Wigan have reportedly joined Scottish sides Celtic and Rangers in their interest of AFC Bournemouth midfielder Eunan O’Kane.

Back in May, it was reported that the two Scottish clubs, along with recently relegated Premier League outfit Aston Villa could make a summer move for the Republic Of Ireland international.

The same source which reported that speculation has now added Championship side Wigan to the mix.

According to HITC

‘Bournemouth are understood to be willing to listen to offers for O’Kane this summer with the midfielder entering the final year of his contract at Dean Court.

The report added…

‘The 25-year-old is understood to be open to the idea of a move away from Bournemouth as he is keen to be playing on a regular basis at this stage of his career.

O’Kane came though the youth system at Premier League side Everton, before being released in 2009.

He went on to join Northern Ireland side Coleraine, but after impressing during one season in his home country he moved to League Two side Torquay United and has made over 100 appearances for them.

He has also played for both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland at under 21’s level and in June 2012 was target for Sean O’Driscoll at Crawley Town, but after Crawley triggered his £175,000 release clause, he failed to agree personal terms and rejected the offer.

In July 2012 then League One side AFC Bournemouth had an undisclosed bid accepted by Torquay and O’Kane agreed personal terms to make the move along the coast.

He has gone on to make 118 appearances for the Cherries, becoming a regular in the third, second and first tiers of English football.

O’Kane made 16 appearances in the Premier League last season, but only six as a member of the starting XI and following the additions of Nathan Ak√©, Emerson Hyndman and Lewis Cook he appears to have dropped further down the pecking order and in pre-season was used as a make shift full back.

MacDonald or O’Kane?

A carry on from the o Kane to Wigan post – which of the two would you rather keep? I really rated MacDonald when he first joined us but really not sure why we’ve kept hold of him with several players in front of him, including O’Kane, who on the other hand I think is a technically better player. When Eddie came back he was touted by several premier league clubs at the time and then signed a new contract. Macca struggled to make the bench last season.

Just interested to see which of the two you would rather KEEP. Assuming one will drop out of the 25 and ultimately be sold.
