AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was understandably delighted following the Cherries 2-0 win over Burton Albion on Saturday.

The win clinched promotion from League Two for Eddie Howe’s squad, with the Cherries returning to League One after a two year absence.

AFC Bournemouth were relegated from League One in 2008 following a ten point penalty from the Football League for entering administration.

Last season the Cherries battled against relegation out of the Football League following a seventeen point penalty and this season AFC Bournemouth battled against a 14 month transfer embargo.

Howe told BBC Radio Solent

‘Last season the relief was huge because we were in real trouble and this season it’s totally different.

‘We’ve actually achieved something that will last forever, so that’s a nice feeling.

‘It’s been difficult…the players have been asked to play out of position, some have been asked to play when they are injured but time and time against they’ve come out and proved people wrong.’
