Welsh clubs chase Cherries midfield duo

AFC Bournemouth’s midfield could be set to receive a bit of a shakeup ahead of the new 2018/19 Premier League campaign.

Last season the Cherries started the campaign with the tried and tested duo of Andrew Surman and Harry Arter, but ended the season with Dan Gosling and Lewis Cook as the first choice midfield duo.

Arter made just 13 Premier League appearances last season totalling 962 minutes in comparison to his 35 appearances and 2,959 minutes the season before.

Gosling made 28 appearances totalling 1,944 minutes, up from the 1,358 minutes across 27 appearances the season before.

With the exclusion of Arter, who had a season to forget, Surman, Gosling and Lewis Cook at times have all had a strong case to argue for their inclusion in the AFC Bournemouth starting XI.

Surman, always dependable, reliable and consistent.

Gosling, what he lacks in natural ability he always makes up for with effort and work rate.

Lewis Cook has the potential to lead England at the next World Cup.

But if the Cherries are to progress, the heart of the side will need bolstering, hence the Cherries reported interest in Colombia international Jefferson Lerma.

Whilst AFC Bournemouth would like to add numbers to the midfield options, it’s likely that any additions could prompt a departure or two.

Wales Online have reported that Swansea City are interested in Harry Arter whilst Cardiff City are interested in Dan Gosling.

The report claimed…

Eddie Howe is allegedly open to moving the Ireland international on this summer in light of his side’s pursuit of Levante’s Jefferson Lerma, which has also brought the future of midfielder Dan Gosling into question.

No fee is connected to the interest in Arter, however, £5million is mentioned as a possible offer for Gosling.
