AFC Bournemouth assistant manager Jason Tindall is delighted that Cherries defender Elliott Ward has signed a new deal with the club.
The 28 year old defender who has experience of winning promotion to the Premier League during his time with Norwich, joined the Cherries in June last year.
He signed an initial one year contract that was set to expire at the end of this season, but after making 18 appearances for the Cherries and forming solid partnerships with both Steve Cook and Tommy Elphick, Ward has opted to sign an improved two and a half year contract.
Tindall told afcb.co.uk…
“We are absolutely delighted Elliott has decided to sign a new contract and commit to the club for another couple of years, He`s settled in well and we have been really pleased with his performances this season.
“He has a real presence about him, but not only that he is also very composed and comfortable on the ball, which is something that is very difficult to find in centre halves.
“It`s important with the way we play that our defenders are comfortable and composed on the ball, and Elliott ticks that box as well as many others. He`s also a good character and a brilliant professional, who works extremely hard and keeps on wanting to improve.
“Elliott`s experience at Championship level has been invaluable to us. We are lucky to have a very talented squad and to add someone of his quality and experience has only improved it.”
