AFC Bournemouth striker Wesley Thomas has stated that Lee Clark’s faith in him was a major reason behind his move to Birmingham City.

Thomas joined the Championship side ahead of the January transfer window closing at 11pm last (Thursday) night.

He had been linked with a number of Championship clubs after previously impressing during a loan spell with Blackpool where he had scored three goals.

Birmingham will become the fourth club Thomas has played for this season after previously making appearances for AFC Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Blackpool.

The loan will run until the end of the season and it is reported that the move does not include any provisions to make the deal permanent come the end of the season.

At the end of the 2012/13 campaign Thomas will still have twelve months remaining on his contract with the Cherries.

Thomas told bcfc.co.uk

“This is a big club and I`m glad I`m here at Birmingham for the rest of the season,”

“There was interest off other clubs and this one came in at the last minute but I spoke to the gaffer and it all seemed right for me. I can`t wait to get going.

“The gaffer`s admiration for me was one of the reasons why I came here. The manager seems to like me as a player and when you`re coming to a club you want the manager to have faith in you. ”
