The Price is Right?

Like many Bournemouth fans I find the strange turn of events at our local rivals (chuckle) Weymouth a reason to sit up and take notice. I would be lying if I didn’t admit a soft spot for Weymouth even after the Claridge ‘one team in Dorset’ allegations.

I am reminded of the most recent relegation that we experience here at Bournemouth and the loss of so many players due to a failing season and the Monkey or as it is otherwise known the ITV Digital collapse.

‘Arry was kind enough to pop in and pick up Eddie Howe and Richard (little team) Hughes in the blue cross sale while many more players just fell off the face of the earth. Oh how I miss Willy Huck! But at Weymouth circumstances are different, the season is going well for the Terras and although 7th are still considered a hot pick for promotion, and I don’t see any Digital TV packages about to collapse.(although that Monkey has returned to our TV’s in the Tetley T-Bags advert!)

Having been Harry’s right hand man for so long, Kevin Bond should know how to pick up a bargain like Harry did when we were in the brown runny stuff (thanks to BMB for that). We already know he is looking at Weymouth’s Captain Ben Smith, but how much does a Weymouth player really cost?

Whilst looking for the oppinions of Weymouth fans I stumbled upon a website called Terras Talk. Essentially a message board, it seems to be a popular forum for Weymouth supporters to communicate with each other.
Amongst the ranting and raving I found an interesting comment in a post talking about Ben Smith’s possible move to Bournemouth.

Dorset Dweller, a contributor on the terras talk board posted…

‘He won’t have far to go if the goes to Bournemouth then. Point is, surely he and everyone else will be entitled to go on a free. The club/contract was full time. Now it’s part time. Doesn’t that mean the players can just walk for free as their contracts are no longer valid? Can anyone confirm?‘

So perhaps the Weymouth players are not up for sale, but are being given away, either way its a prime opportunity to do some Cherry picking.
