The good, the bad, the ugly and VAR

The Good:
Eddie Howe got the Adam Smith/Jack Stacey/Diego Rico decision right. We looked much more dangerous.

Aaron Ramsdale was excellent. He doesn’t deserve a relegation on his cv from his first top-flight season.

It’s a genuine pleasure to have Joshua King back. Makes the whole team tick much more upfront and shows so much more desire to get the ball than any other attacker we have

We looked much more like ourselves. If this was November I’d say keep on putting in performances like that and we’ll stay up. Sadly, at this stage of the season, it’s the points ground out that matter more than the performances.

The Bad:
Callum Wilson was pretty anonymous. Missed (or had saved) his big chance when it could have changed the game.

Harry Wilson must be contractually obliged to start a certain number of games. Even given the injuries, I can’t otherwise explain how he has so many appearances.

Philip Billing needs to exert his authority more. I get he has a languid style but even given that he really does need to put himself more.

The Ugly:
Simon Francis. Had a great game not so long back but has too many shockers for us to be able to risk him. Was had for breakfast time and again by a Championship quality striker today. I shudder at the thought of Mo Salah running at him.

Today’s VAR. For anyone thinking that Dan Gosling’s comments would put pressure on the refs to actually give us an occasional decision, this was them giving a middle finger back and letting us know they think having AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League is a disgrace.

Fight. Some teams turn adversity into a rallying call. We turned today’s second VAR decision into capitulation and the game was dire from that moment forward. That isn’t good enough, especially given our situation.

Your say…

I really don’t give a toss if we go down. I have had enough of VAR, I never wanted it in the first place. Fans at the game are irrelevant now. Referees at the game are irrelevant too, Mike Dean is not at fault here he has given the correct decisions, it’s some **** sat 200 miles away making it up as he goes along.
Garth Crooks summed it up by saying on Final Score “VAR” and then tearing his notes in half and throwing them on the table.
I don’t blame the players if their heads dropped at 2-0, it is totally understandable after giving everything for 60 minutes and then getting beat by a **** in a TV studio. – Join the conversation, click here.
