Stanislas undergoes surgery with season over

AFC Bournemouth attacker Junior Stanislas has had his season ended prematurely with a knee injury.

The news is desperately disappointing for the 25 year old, who despite a stop start season due to injury, has enjoyed a successful campaign with 2 assists and 5 goals to his name, including his stunning free kick against West Brom to win the match in stoppage time.

But his season would end just one game later as Stanislas reportedly left Vicarage Road following the draw against Watford on crutches and with his left knee in a brace.

It has since been revealed that he has had an operation his knee and is now in a race against time to be fit in time for pre-season ahead of the 2018/19 campagin.

Howe told the Daily Echo…

“Junior will be fine. He has had a few injuries in his career so I don’t think it is new to him. He knows the process he is going to have to go through.

“The knee will need to be rehabbed properly and he will need to be very careful early on but I see no reason why he cannot get back to his very best levels.

“The medical team were worried about his cruciate but it’s an anterior injury – the better of the two evils. He had an operation and we’re happy with how that has gone.

“Whether he will make pre-season or the start of next season, we don’t know. We will have to see how his rehab goes.”
