Spurs v AFCB – Highlights & Reaction

|

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told Sky Sports

“The key moments were the first two goals in the game. We had to defend those two situations better and we didn’t. We paid the ultimate price for it.

“The lads gave a great effort to come back and show the character needed because 3-0 down was a difficult moment for us. We had a chance to get a point right at the end, so I thought we played well in general. But the first two goals killed us.”

For me, it’s quite simple. We lost this game because the defending for the first 2 goals was nowhere near good enough.

You can’t come to a place like this and get done by a long straight ball like that, not just once but twice.

They should be standard routine balls to defend, it isn’t good enough and I’d be surprised if you see another team come here this season and give away goals like we did today.

All the promising play from Danjuma and Harry Wilson is worth nothing if we are just going to throw goals away like this. The movement from Ali was very good but it still should not be happening, the centre backs particularly Steve Cook cost us today.

Thought Lewis Cook struggled to get into the game today, looked a bit off the pace, I suppose after a long injury he might need a bit of time. Just a bit frustrating as he came back the first couple of games with a bang.

Jack Stacey was caught out positionally but it must be a frigging nightmare when you have Son making those driving runs in from deep and wide, his pace and experience winning through. But Stacey looks a good player to me who I’m sure will learn from it and I thought he gave us good options going forward as did Diego Rico.

The main concern is Callum Wilson who really seems to be struggling a bit and Dominic Solanke who looks short of confidence.

The difference between the 2 teams attacking lines was where the game hinged I would say.

Your say…

Wow, we had them sweating at the end !!! Is this the first time we’ve played two decent halves this season? We damn near matched them at their place so credit to our boys. Eddie Howe will be angry with the goals we conceded but it sounds as though the players never gave up. Callum Wilson’s form is worrying though. Dominic Solanke not scoring but still contributing to create our chances, no complaints from me.

Callum needs to find his touch and his shooting boots if we are to start winning these games in my opinion. Think he should be dropped and replaced by Joshua King as soon as King is fit! – Join the conversation, click here.
