AFC Bournemouth have released a statement following long queues outside Dean Court ahead of kick against Brighton & Hove Albion in the EFL Cup.

Due to the delays many supporters missed the kick off and a large part of the first half.

A similar scene occurred at the same stage of the same competition last year against Preston North End.

A statement on afcb.co.uk read…

AFC Bournemouth are aware of delays incurred by supporters entering Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night, and thank them for their patience.

Following recent incidents across the country, the club have been working closely with police and counter terrorism officers, who advised an increase in security searches, which ultimately had a knock-on effect.

While the club are continuing to explore ways to reduce queuing time, it would greatly assist if fans could arrive at Vitality Stadium as early as possible on a home matchday.

Your Say…

To be fair, we turned up 20 mins prior to Kick Off and ‘just’ got in for Kick Off… The issue is not the fans turning up late… It’s the sheer lack of communication round the ground…

It’s a night game so a large majority will not be able to rock up at 6pm… If the club knew there would be a lot of folk queuing, they should have employed more stewards and made more of an effort to create queues for each turnstile…

Behind the North Stand is almost pitch black. So how are fans who are not frequent visitors (as lets face it, a lot of those there, probably weren’t) supposed to know which is turnstile C, or D…

When the queues are out to the ground entrance, how are you supposed to know which is for which turnstile and which is the bloody East Stand queue, which ended up merging into one… No stewards, no barriers, no help, no communication… nothing…

… and, why oh why do we have to have a scanner that has 2 ways of presenting tickets (paper and card)??? Those that don’t know, simply don’t know…

Shambles all over, and blaming the fans for everything (I agree, there are some idiots out there) is not the answer… It’s not rocket science to organise this… Never seen this sort of chaos at other grounds…

I suspect there will be quite a pile of emails in Liz’s (Finney) inbox…
