After the match Sean talked to Radio Solent and said: ‘It was lively. They have a lot of players and I think they have probably struggled to find the right balance. The reports we’ve had in the last two game s and especially this game, you’d say that this will be a difficult place to come for the rest of the season if they keep playing as they’ve played today. We’ve obviously conceded them [three goals] but we have conceded by trying to be positive so that is the danger.

‘I don’t think we will ever outscore teams so when we open up we’re vulnerable at the back. We went three-nil down and got a goal straight back. It made it interesting. At 3-2 the multi ball system suddenly went and they were hanging on but a quality last goal and you felt that they had that in them all game so it was a bit dangerous to open up because they can punish you. On another day we might have got something out of it but I can’t fault our spirit, we kept going right to the end and did as well as we possibly could.’

Explaining what he meant by multi-ball systems Sean went on to talk about the use of ball boys at grounds. ‘The clubs have voted to keep it but if you employ it, and its not the referee’s fault, but if you employ it then you employ it as an advantage to yourself. It’s common sense. 3-2 down and they’re hanging on, the ball is not going to suddenly come straight back in but the referee can’t do anything about it. It is an annoying little thing, it didn’t affect the result and I don’t think clubs need to do that but there you go.

‘I’ve got to see the video’ said Sean talking about the first penalty. ‘Neil Young said he never touched the lad at all so he’s dived and the referee got that one wrong.’.

‘I’ve just asked Marcus Browning what their second one was for, and he said that it must have been given for a push or a hand on the shoulder. I suppose it’s a penalty but you’ll then be giving penalties for every corner that has ever been taken. I didn’t think that ours was a penalty either.’
