AFC Bournemouth were forced to shuffle the pack again with Eddie Howe being withdrawn with a back problem. Marcus Browning returned from suspension to the starting eleven.

Brett Pitman had the Cherries best chance during the first half but his strike smacked the post.

Two goals in two minutes from the home side wrapped up the points for Rotherham.

Martin Butler headed home from the back post on 58 minutes and Lee Williamson got the second as he beat Marcus Browning for pace and tucked it past Gareth Stewart.

Rotherham amazingly missed two penalties in the final ten minutes to save the Cherries from an embarressing score line.

Martin Butler missed his chance for a brace as he fired wide on 82 minutes and Paul Hurst crashed his effort against the bar in injury time.

“This was the worst performance at my time at this club, it was disappointing, we didn’t turn up.

“Everything that could go wrong did go wrong and I can’t think of any positives to take from that.”
