After the success of the first team last weekend the Cherries carried on from where they left off with an enjoyable 3-2 win over visitors Bristol City.

The Bournemouth lineup included two trialists from Luton Town – David Deeney and Stuart Sinclair, both starting the match as wingbacks. Charlton youngster Danny Phillips was also invited back for another appearance, and capped it off with a late winning goal.

Starting the match in also sub-zero temperatures, Cherries hotshot Brett Pitman gave the home side the lead within 20 seconds, turning and striking the ball past keeper Nathan Abbey, picking up on a poor pass from Luke Wilkshire after intercepting Dani Rodrigues’ pass.

City pressed well and Mark McGammon was a giant upfront for the visitors. A excellent save was forced out of Neil Moss before Elliot Benyon tucked away the equalizer on 34 minutes.

But the Cherries would go into the half time break a goal ahead, Dani Rodrigues striking low and hard from the edge of the penalty area.

It took 20 minutes after the break for another goal to come, this time from Bristol sub Aaron Ledgister – tucking the ball into the bottom left corner of the net and sneaking past an outstretched Moss.

Ben Rix put in a brilliant performance in the centre of the park, keeping the ball glued to his feet and releasing excellent passes seeking out the Luton wingers.

But it was the other trialist, Danny Phillips, who stole the show in midfield. Neat touches and excellent control (despite a very noticeable lack on height) was rounded off with a fine effort on 84 minutes. A neat through ball found Phillips rushing towards the keeper and flicking the ball with the outside of his left foot into the bottom right of the net. 3-2 Cherries!
