Eddie Howe’s reserves held up under pressure from Crystal Palace to hang on to their early 1-0 lead.
Chicken had a blatent penalty turned down in the opening 5 mins. Chicken was playing on the right wing with Vokes and Torre up front. Anderton and Standing were in the centre of midfield. Palace kept looking to beat the offside trap against our inexpreienced defence. Brett Pitman sorry Chicken put the Cherries 1-0 up after good work from Andderton down the right. Probably against the run of play in all fairness. Palace looked good on the break. Standing linking up well with Anderton, which is something to warm the heart of Cherries fans!
Half time we went in 1-0 up.
During the second half Sam Vokes put a header past the post following a decent cross fron Sainsbury after some nice link up work between Standing and Anderton. About 5 mins later Vokes and Anderton made way for Ayres and Partington. Both seem to hold up well following their respective injuries. During the last 10 minutes of the game Sainsbury fired a shot just over the bar. Taz made an appearance replacing Standing. Torre and Chicken had a chance between them to put the game out of Palaces reach however messed it up and Crystal Palace broke on the counter attack forcing a save from Gareth Stewart in a 1:1 situation. Crystal Palace winning a corner and then piled on the pressure during stoppage time but with Franks and Sampson playing well AFCB played out the win.
Well done boys and congratulations Eddie.
