AFC Bournemouth lost the second of the back-to-back away games to Championship outfits on Saturday afternoon.

After half the squad picked up a 1-1 draw at Bristol City, the other half travelled to Nottingham Forest.

Once again Cherries manager Eddie Howe selected an XI that would give the majority of the players a full 90 minutes, to get that all important fitness work under their belts ahead of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign.

AFC Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson was substituted after 70 minutes, handing Emerson Hyndman a half hour appearance.

New signing David Brooks gave way on 77 minutes for Connor Mahoney, to add 13 minutes of game time to his 27-minute appearance against Bristol City less than 24 hours earlier.

The other 9 players all completed the full 90 minutes.

The Cherries went on to lose the game 2-0.

Forest took it seriously and improved throughout the game. Had several efforts on target and were hardly bothered by our forwards. Looked a decent, coherent outfit.

As for us … will have done nothing for morale and leaves Eddie much to ponder:

– Daniels slow and outfoxed on many occasions, conceding the second goal;
– Simpson played out of position and lost the plot for Forest’s first. Is reliant on his left foot and seemed bewildered on the right side of the defence. Hope he’s not another Cargill;
– Francis slow and too keen to blame others;
– Fraser lightweight;
– Mousset anonymous.

Bright spots: Brooks, Ake and Gosling.

Thought: a further bid for Mepham is a very good idea. – Join the conversation, click here.
