AFC Bournemouth player-coach Stephen Purches was pleased with the performances shown during a training ground friendly match with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The match which ended goalless was played at Canford on Monday.

AFC Bournemouth development coach Stephen Purches used the match to introduce new signings Jonathan Muleba from Chelsea, Josh O’Hanlon from Longford Town and Ben Whitfield from Guiseley into a competitive environment.

Muleba partnered Baily Cargill at centre-half for the whole 90 minutes, while O’Hanlon and Whitfield played 30 minutes and 20 minutes respectively.

First team members Ryan Allsop, Adam Smith, Shaun MacDonald, Mohamed Coulibaly and Ryan Fraser were also involved in the friendly.

Purches told afcb.co.uk

‘It was two sides trying to play the right way, Brighton are a good side and at times they showed some great possession, as we did. Unfortunately we never had that cutting edge today and despite getting into some great positions we never finished them off.

‘It is always good for the development squad to have the first team boys in and around them and it can only help our younger ones by showing them the standard that has got to be set.

‘There were some good performances out their from the first team lads, and when our boys see that they rise to it and put in a good performance too.

‘As a whole, players got out of the match what they needed to. Especially with some new faces coming in, as well as some trying to improve their fitness levels and get some matches under their belt, it ticked all the boxes.’
