MOTM against Man Utd

Stanislas

Stanislas

Kelly

No one

— Positives —
– The shape and tactics looked correct AND the players had clearly bought into it

– Despite the defence shipping goals, Lloyd Kelly looks good. Oh, Harry Arter, what did you do to us?

– Junior Stanislas looks to be back on it. We know he has these purple patches of form so hopefully, this is the start of one

– We looked an attacking threat again AND dangerous at it, despite being on the back foot most of the game. Great to see.

— Negatives —
– Once one went it we lost belief, heads dropped and looked much more vulnerable again. Maybe a confidence issue but someone on the pitch should be driving the team to stop that from happening every time we concede.

– Adam Smith looks a shadow of his usual self. From undroppable, I can’t see him starting the next match

– I’m starting to think we might have better luck with Domonic Cummings upfront than Solanke At least he turns up in unexpected places. Injuries aside, I don’t think he’ll start for us again if we somehow stay up.

– Since the return, Aaron Ramsdale is starting to remind me of the performances we were getting from other keepers. At least one he absolutely should have saved today. More than that though, sometimes you need your keeper to save the ones that you don’t expect him to save. He hasn’t done that since we came back (maybe one of those in the last couple of minutes but the game was long since over by then). We’re in a place where we need the opposition shaking their head at what our keeper does. Harsh as he’s so young but there are no allowances for age in the Premier League. I’d be tempted to give Artur Boruc a run out for the run-in.

Just to add: by far the best performance since we came back. Ignore the scoreline, we actually saw the team turn up for the first time. If we can go like that in all the remaining games then who knows. It remains highly unlikely but football can be strange.

Your say…

Thought Nathan Ake was quite good on the right and Kelly looked promising on the left. Back 4 from now on ought to be Diego Rico, Lloyd Kelly, Nathan Ake, Jack Stacey in my opinion. Especially if the injuries are genuine

I’m a Philip Billing fan, but I don’t think he should play for us anytime soon. Harry Wilson just looks out of his depth now. Really pointless changes that made us immediately insipid.

Solanke…at a certain point, it just seems unfair to keep having a go. He’s not good enough, yet he keeps getting picked. It’s almost not his fault at this point. We looked good in attack in the first half, but Solanke didn’t add anything. Sam Surridge could’ve done the same role.

Stanislas was excellent. As was Joshua King. Thought Lewis Cook had a decent game. The more games we play, the more it becomes apparent to me who we can count on to…try. – Join the conversation, click here.
