AFC Bournemouth loanee Brett Pitman was pleased to have scored his first goal of the season on his second Cherries debut.

Pitman came off the bench during the Cherries game with Bury on Saturday and scored a stoppage time equaliser to earn a point for Eddie Howe’s side and extend the unbeaten run to ten games in all competitions.

Having only made three appearances for Championship side Bristol City this season, Pitman’s goal was his first of the current campaign and the first since he became a father.

Speaking before Tuesday afternoon’s friendly fixture against Bristol Rovers, Pitman told BBC Radio Solent

‘I knew they were good players (at Bournemouth) but they’ve surprised me how good they are, I’ve only trained with them Thursday and a little bit on Friday and I’ve seen them play Tuesday and Saturday.

‘The quality is very, very high and I did not expect it to be that high. They have surprised me.’

‘It’s the first goal I’ve scored this season and first since my son’s been born so it’s very special,’
