New Cherries signing Daryl Taylor is looking forward to showing the Dean Court faithful what he can do.

The former Walsall youngster signed a short term contract with Bournemouth recently (click here for original story) and he cannot wait for the season to start.

He told the Daily Echo

‘There were a few Conference and League Two clubs interested and I also had a chance to move abroad to New Zealand but was very impressed with Bournemouth.’

‘I like the way they play football and think it suits my game. Signing a short-term deal will keep me on my toes and I’ll have to prove from day one that I’m worthy of a longer contract…’

‘…I was disappointed about leaving (Walsall) but also felt I needed a fresh start, my agent said Bournemouth had always liked me from the game I played here and there was also the connection with Richard (O’Kelly). I’m excited about coming here and can’t wait for pre-season to start.’

With Taylor being a fast tricky midfielder, he is already being touted as a like for like replacement for Wade Elliott who left this time last year. When the Echo reporter made the comparison Taylor added…

‘You always have comparisons in football and you have to deal with them.’ ‘But I’m a different sort of player to Wade. I’m my own player and I’d just say to the fans ‘wait and see’.

‘In my opinion, my main strengths are my pace, and my skill and ability to create goals.’
