Is AFC Bournemouth about to spend some of their newly found Premier League fortune? Could Liverpool once again benefit from some Cherries cash?

The transfer window officially opens today (10th June) and remains open until 31st August.

Many teams will be aiming to get the majority of their business done early, in order for players to join their new squads ahead of pre-season training camps and friendly fixtures.

Some clubs will then act accordingly, once a domino effect tends to take place regarding a number of linked moves all coming to fruition and others will act desperately with last-minute signings close to the end of the summer transfer window.

Which category will the Cherries fall into following their promotion to the top flight of English football following a two-year absence?

AFC Bournemouth are well known for wanting to be active in this window, especially with signings in defensive positions, having seen Liverpool defender Nat Phillips return to Anfield following his half-season loan spell at Dean Court.

Could he return however?

The Sun newspaper reported….

Liverpool defender Nathaniel Phillips was a key part of the Bournemouth defence after joining on loan in January and there is interest in seeing him return on a permanent deal.

The Reds, however, have slapped a £15million price tag on the defender – who made 17 Championship appearances for Parker’s side last season.

That figure seems on the high side, but it certainly appears to be a transfer that could well be an option. It would also prove to be a popular move considering the partnership he forged with captain Lloyd Kelly during the promotion run-in.

The tabloid paper went on to add that “There is interest in Blackburn striker Ben Brereton Diaz to add to the forward line” and then added, “Barnsley striker Callum Styles – who faced England with Hungary last week – has also been linked.”

The Cherries have options in attack, primarily 24-year-old Dominic Solanke who plundered 29 goals last season and Kieffer Moore (30 in August) who scored 4 goals in 3 games following his two-and-a-half-month lay-off through injury.

Jamal Lowe (28 in July) also remains an option, having scored 7 goals and claiming 2 assists in just 9 starts (25 substitute appearances).

However, either Ben Brereton Diaz or Callum Styles also add options.

23-year-old Brereton Diaz scored 22 goals and claimed 3 assists for Blackburn Rovers last season. Contributing to over half of his side’s goals during the 2021/22 campaign.

22-year-old Barnsley midfielder Callum Styles has enjoyed somewhat of a breakthrough season during the last campaign, earning a call-up to the Hungary squad after discovering he qualifies to play for them due to his Grandmother.

Your say…

The hardest position to fill in my opinion…a 12-15 goal striker in the Premier League. Everyone wants one, but there aren’t many around and they cost a fortune. It will be interesting to see how many goals Mitrovic scores next season having hit the 40 goal mark last season and the same for Dom who hit the 30 goal mark last season. Other than Billing there weren’t many other serious goalscorers in our team so anything that can bolster the scoring ranks will be a good signing. If Dom and Moore can chip in with 10-15 each then we might be ok. As long we don’t concede hatfuls, of course. – Join the conversation, click here.
