Director of Operations Adam Murry believes that Jimmy Quinn had to leave Dean Court to freshen things up.

Quinn becomes the shortest reigning AFC Bournemouth manager since the club joined the league back in 1923.

Quinn had just 121 days in charge, taking control of the Cherries for the first time away to Notts County on the 6th September 2008 and ending on 28th December 2008 at home to Barnet, a total of 19 league games.

During those 19 league games the Cherries won 5, drew 7 and lost 7, scoring 22 while conceding 28.

A run that averaged a points per game ratio of 1.16, a goals per game ratio of 1.16 and a goals conceded ratio per game of 1.47.

Remarkably these are almost identical statistics, in comparison to Kevin Bond’s previous 22 months on charge of AFC Bournemouth (click here)

Quinn also in addition to the 19 league games had 5 cup games in the Paint Pot and the FA Cup. These brought 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats, scoring twice and conceding twice, however one of the defeats was against Blue Square North side Blyth, live on television, with the defeat costing the club around £250,000 in lost tv and revenue…

Murry told the Daily Echo

‘…We`re trying to breathe new life into the club. We need different tactics and different strategies on the pitch and, at this point in time, we felt things needed freshening up.

“In my opinion, we`ve got some extremely talented players and the team is as good as any other in this league and as good as some in the league above.

“If we can maintain some consistency on the pitch, we will definitely stay up and hopefully be challenging for promotion next season…’
