AFC Bournemouth attacker Lys Mousset has criticised his lack of first team opportunities since his move to England.

AFC Bournemouth completed the signing of 20 year old Lys Mousset from French club Le Havre in June for a reported fee of ?7.3million.

Mousset made his debut for French Ligue 2 side Le Havre when he was 18 and last season he scored 14 goals in 29 appearances as Le Havre almost won promotion to the top flight of French football.

Mousset is versatile as he can play either as a central striker or out wide and prior to his move to the south coast of England he had impressed for France at under-20’s level in the Toulon Tournament.

Since his move to Dean Court his opportunities have been limited.

He is yet to start a single game for the Cherries and instead has played a total of 88 minutes in the EFL Cup against Morecambe and Preston and 23 minutes in the Premier League against Sunderland and Arsenal.

Speaking to French media outlet Paris Normandie but quoted by sportwitness.co.uk, Mousset said…

“Between the project they offered me and what`s happening, it`s completely different. I came to Bournemouth to play and all I`m doing is spending time in the stands, without any explanation from the manager.

“You can say that`s football, but I really have the impression of wasting my time, of being in a dead-end.”

“My priority is to play. I like that, and I`m starting to missing. I like life in England, people are nice, I`m with my family, Bournemouth is calm, but I`m here to play and score. Without game time, how do I do that?”

Well, if he wants to convince the manager to play him more, whining about it to a French newspaper and basically accusing Eddie Howe of being dishonest is probably not the best strategy.

Seems this may be due to his young age, and possibly language issues. Afobe had been in the same position as Mousset until recently, and he always seemed upbeat and hopeful about taking his chance when it came, indicating he had spoken about it with the manager and knew there was a plan for him.

Sounds like Mousset hasn’t talked with Eddie at all, which is not good.
