AFC Bournemouth manager Kevin Bond has thrown down the gauntlet to Neil Moss to prove he should still be first choice ‘keeper at Dean Court.

Bond has brought in on loan Portsmouth ‘keeper Asmir Begovic, but after initial reports suggesting he had been cleared to play in tonight’s League Cup game at West Brom, an apparent U turn from Pompey will sideline the Canadian, gifting Moss the chance to prove he should keep his starting place.

Bond told afcb.co.uk

‘…I can understand Portsmouth’s situation.

‘Harry has kindly let us have Asmir, but he has to protect his own interests and I’d have done exactly the same thing. He’s only got two other goalkeepers and if anything should happen to either of them he’s going to be short on the bench in a cup competition. He can’t allow that for happen and I understand that.

‘Mossy will be back in against West Brom and I know he will react in the right way and go out there with the attitude that he’ll show me he’s the best option that we have.’
