Former AFC Bournemouth midfielder Mark Molesley would like to return to the Cherries once his playing career is over.

The popular midfielder had his contract with the Cherries terminated by mutual consent on Friday so that he could join League Two side Exeter City on a free transfer.

Molesley was set to be out of contract at the end of the season and with Eddie Howe having an almost embarrassment of riches in midfield, Molesley was unlikely to break back into the first team fold.

So the 31 year old signed a new deal with Exeter, but Molesley is open to the thought of one day returning to Dean Court.

Molesley told afcb.co.uk

‘…The gaffer since he has come back in has been absolutely brilliant with me. He has picked me up from a low position and helped me get back on the bike so to speak so I am forever grateful to Eddie Howe and Jason and everyone at the club.

‘I fell in love with the club and the area and made the place my home so I’d love to come back in some capacity.

‘I said that to the gaffer, ‘what do you want me to train up as; what do you need when I finish playing football?’. The club’s in a great position and it would be great to get involved in some capacity somewhere down the line. ‘

Writing on Twitter he added…

“Yesterday was a very hard and emotional day to leave a place where my dreams came true, a fantastic place and fantastic people, I am so proud of representing AFCB and met so many special people, I wish every success in the future to the club and hope to meet again one day.”
