AFC Bournemouth coach Mark Molesley believes he is very fortunate to be working with Eddie Howe and his backroom staff.

Molesley has previously been working as an Under 15’s academy coach, alongside his duties as player-coach at Southern League side Weymouth.

However following Stephen Purches’ promotion from the development squad to the first team, Molesley has been handed the position as AFC Bournemouth development squad coach until the end of the season.

The 35 year old will take charge of his first Under 21’s game this (Wednesday) afternoon against Central League rivals Southend United.

Molesley told the Daily Echo

“It is a great opportunity for me and a massive honour. It is a fantastic environment to work in. The standards the manager sets run right through the club and I am around some fantastic people.

“It is like me getting a university degree at Oxford or Cambridge!

“I am learning so much, so quickly and hope this experience will strengthen me as a coach…”

‘…I am lucky I was able to work under somebody of Stephen Purches`s quality. This opportunity came out of the blue. It`s one I wasn`t expecting and I intend to try to take it with both hands.

“I am just trying to keep up Purchy`s good work until the end of the season, then the club will decide what happens next.”

Anyone who what experience either of these chaps have in running a Premier Leaguer under 21 team? Purches’s coaching has hardly been a success judging by the complete lack of under 21 players looking like their anywhere near the first team.

Eddie is too stubborn/loyal on and off the pitch
