AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell has denied reports that he has offered former Tottenham and Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp the managerial position at Dean Court.
Over the weekend, the Daily Mirror and Daily Record both ran with articles reporting that Mitchell had offered Redknapp a return to management with the Cherries.
The Mirror reported that Redknapp had turned down Mitchell’s offer and speculated that Redknapp was interested in the possible future vacancy at Premier League side QPR.
Redknapp however remains fourth favourite for the role with the bookmakers, with short odds available on Yeovil manager Gary Johnson, Burnley manager Eddie Howe and former AFC Bournemouth striker Steve Cotterill the current odds on favourite who is only available at evens.
Mitchell told BBC Radio Solent…
‘There is no truth that I have offered him (Redknapp) the job, His future is a lot higher, we are a Division One club.’
‘Harry has nothing to do with any decision I have made, I know Harry and I speak to him most days. If he felt he wanted it he would phone me.
‘It’s not for me to offer Harry a job. He has not given me an indication that he wants the job.’
