Mings: I just want to be fit

AFC Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings will be sidelined for at least another three months with a back injury.

Mings had made three appearances during the current 2017/18 campaign, with all three seeing Mings named in the starting XI.

The first came in the EFL Cup against Birmingham City, but the other two appearances came in the Premier League as AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe adopted a three at the back formation.

That saw Mings operate on the left hand side of a three man defence alongside Nathan Ake and Steve Cook.

However the 24 year old was forced off at half time against Arsenal in September and is yet to return.

It was thought that he would now be ramping up his training in a bid for a return to the first team, but that has now be halted as the Cherries seek specialist advice.

Mings has now revealed that he has suffered a stress fracture in his back.

Mings told the Gazette & Herald

I`m alright, I have a fracture in my back, it is just stressed at the moment, I never seem to get little ones (injuries) either. I`m not sure on a timeframe. I think I have another three to four weeks of doing nothing, then I will have to start rehab, which will be about eight weeks.

“I`m in a situation where I`m not allowed to do anything, I`m not allowed to do yoga or go to the gym, hence why I am on holiday.

“I`m just in Dubai. There are worse things that I can be doing. It is frustrating because I just want to be fit.

Poor Tyrone. Another blow, both for him and us. Unfortunately it’s started to get a bit Wilshere-like with the consecutive serious injuries. The good news is he can still come back from it, like Jack!

Now whether Francis is seen as a RB or CB is irrelevant, even counting the fresh-faced Simpson we’re still light of a player in the defence, with either 4 CBs and 1 RB or 3CBs and 2RBs. Hopefully we’ll see someone come in this window.
