AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told Sky Sports

“It was much better from the attacking sense. We were a threat in the game today from start to finish.

“On the counter-attack we had pace in wide areas, front positions, scored a good goal so that was a big improvement on recent weeks.

“But defensively today once we conceded the first goal, that was not our finest hour.

“We know we’re in the Premier League and I think if you don’t get every detail right, you will find it difficult…”

“…I think that (their first goal) changed the game in terms of momentum. I think the second goal was a harsh penalty to give against us. Third goal was an unbelievable finish.

“The really good thing is the beginning of the second half we came out with real intent, got back in the match. And the fourth goal probably knocked the stuffing out of us.”

Much better commitment, players looked more on it. Some mistakes of course but we closed down better and had more men forward. We looked busier around their box than in the last 3 games put together.

But the quality isn’t there. Where are our consistent 7/10 performers?

Dominic Solanke and Philip Billing have no touch. Lewis Cook, Harry Wilson and David Brooks are invisible for large parts of games. Diego Rico and Adam Smith were willing. Jefferson Lerma was ok.

I think I’d still prefer Dan Gosling on from the start, maybe Andrew Surman as well.

The key improvement is that we created chances, real chances.

I like Eddie and I trust him to see us right. He just needs to have players who want to do well with Bournemouth. We have some good youngsters in the team and some more close to the team. I think a fresh start in the Championship would energise him. If we should ever return to the PL, Eddie would be aware of the pitfalls and do things slightly differently next time.

Eddie wants us playing exciting football as much as we do. Unfortunately this season, with this group of players it is proving extremely difficult.

A reset and a fresh start are needed and it’s probably best if that happens in the Championship. I’m looking forward to a brighter future with a fresh exciting team ! – Join the conversation, click here.
