AFC Bournemouth loanee Scott Malone has admitted that it was a big relief for the Cherries to end the run of poor results at Dean Court.

The Cherries went into the game against Scunthorpe on Saturday, having won just once and having lost five of the last six games played at Dean Court this season.

The run was the worst home record in League One, but after Scott Malone scored his second goal in two games and Wesley Thomas scored his first goal at Dean Court, the Cherries went on to win 2-0 and the three points lifted the Cherries to 16th in the League One table.

Malone told afcb.co.uk

‘I picked the ball up near the half way line and as soon as I got it I thought, ‘I’m driving, I’m not passing it’! Fortunately it went through his legs in to the bottom corner. We all put 110% in and it was great to see Wes (Thomas) get his reward at the end because he worked so hard up top.

‘It was a big relief to get the win. Everyone has been going on about the fact that we had to start winning at home and we can use this as a turning point. Away from home we’ve worked hard and we’ve got the results, at home we’ve worked just as hard but it just hasn’t been going for us…’

‘…We needed the back to back wins because we haven’t got a league game for two weeks and we wanted to go in to the cup ties with an improved league position. If we can win the two cup games, the confidence is going to be so high and we can really kick on the season.’
