On the 19th of November 2006 Carlisle took the lead in 4 minutes against Bournemouth at Dean Court after Shaun Maher conceded a penalty.

First Half

Déjà vu as an early penalty was awarded to Carlisle again after Purches took the legs of American Johan Smith on loan from Bolton.
Danny Graham scored right footed pass Neil Moss with less than 3 minutes played, not the best of starts!

Although the game had chances at both ends, in the earliy goings Carlisle seemed to be getting the lions share of possesion and looked more dangerous on the counter attack.

The game had lot its fizz by the half hour mark with Cherries doing little more than concede free kicks, and it was one of these free kicks that saw Carlisle double their lead.
Danny Livesey found it all too easy as no Bournemouth player gave an aerial challenge as he nodded the ball in the back of the net.

Cherries struggled to reply but showed nothing but fleeting glimpses of intent, something had to change with Carlisle largely on top.

Second Half

With the first 45 being a bit of a damp cloth the break was a welcome opportunity to make the changes necessary to put Bournemouth in with a shout.
True to form Kevin Bond made a double substitution. The young strike force pairing of Vokes and Pitman were brought on, with wingers Summerfield and Walker being sacrificed for the greater cause.

The Cherries gained a little more zip and with now a very attacking line up started to impose themselves more on the playoff contenders Carlisle.
Despite the two goal deficit Neil Moss kept up a brave display, which coupled with the oppositions lack of concentration managed to keep the score down as Carlisle spurned chance after chance.

Bond`s tactical changes eventually paid off, Anderton created a fantastic chance for Pitman to get the goal needed, the goalkeeper looked to have the situation under control but Sam Vokes got the final say, imposing himself upon the Carlisle defence with less than 15 minutes left to play.

At 2-1 the Cherries pushed for an equaliser making the Carlisle defence and keeper earn their wages, but Carlisle didn`t crumble under the pressure creating chances of their own.

Just as the urgency started to grow amongst the Cherries and the equaliser started to look more likely, Carlisle again caught Bournemouth on the break.
An offside Neale McDermott, ignored by the linesman, trapped the ball, ran into the box catching Bournemouth on the back foot to make it 3-1.

5 minutes remained and the game was as good as over, despite valiant attempts to get a consolation goal the long journey has meant that Bond`s Boys faced their first defeat for five games.

A winning performance is desperately needed for Bournemouth next Saturday when we host high flying Swansea so that we can all breath a little easier and hopefully put our League One Status beyond any doubts.
