Liverpool duo in demand

|

AFC Bournemouth have been linked with a tentative interest in two Liverpool players during this 2019 summer transfer window.

The first was right back Nathaniel Clyne who joined the Cherries in January on a half-season loan deal from Liverpool.

With such deals, it is always widely speculated that a permanent deal could be struck soon afterwards.

The 28-year-old made a positive start to his temporary move on the south coast and was seen as a clever bit of business considering the injuries that AFC Bournemouth had suffered in the full-back positions.

But then in February, it was reported by The Sun that Clyne had been involved in a party weekend in Marbella where “his antics — in which he was seen clutching a hippy crack gas canister and carrying a tray of booze — will dismay chiefs and fans”.

Whether it was a coincidence or not, his form dipped following that report and having previously made 7 appearances for AFC Bournemouth in all competitions, playing every single minute. He then went on to make a further 8 appearances, but only played the full 90 minutes on 3 occasions.

The second is goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, although he has never been considered the first choice option with Jack Butland, Nick Pope and Bartlomiej Dragowski all linked at various times.

Football Insider website, however, believes that both potential AFC Bournemouth targets could be on their way to Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.

They report…

“Crystal Palace have opened preliminary talks with Liverpool over a £25million double deal for Nathaniel Clyne and Simon Mignolet”

The report added…

“Liverpool value Clyne, 28, at around the £12million mark and want £10million for Mignolet, with Jurgen Klopp regarding both as expendable this summer.”

Would AFC Bournemouth consider either player at those valuations?

Your say…

Please no what a terrible signing he would be. No to Mignolet and no to Clyne, neither anywhere near good enough. – Join the conversation, click here.
