AFC Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook believes having England manager Gareth Southgate in the stands is a compliment to the entire squad.
Cook was England Under 20’s captain when they won the Under 20’s World Cup during the summer.
He has since stepped up to the Under 21’s squad and has also been included in the full England squad following a string of withdrawals.
Southgate was in the stands for the Cherries away trip to Huddersfield Town on Sunday and speculation has suggested that he could have been watching both Lewis Cook and striker Callum Wilson.
Lewis Cook told the Daily Echo…
“I wasn`t aware (that Southgate was at Huddersfield). I don`t know if he was watching me but, if he was, I guess it`s good.
“I will just keep getting my head down and concentrating on football and that`s the main thing, to keep enjoying it and improving.
“If he came to watch these teams, it`s a compliment to us all.”
Lewis Cook is a must pick now. Better than Livermore who has played a lot. Amazing he has just turned 21, such potential. Not sure about the others. Maybe Callum will get a chance if he scores regularly over the next handful of games – Join the conversation here.
