Cook slotted in alongside Andrew Surman in a midfield four with Dan Gosling struggling for fitness and Harry Arter having Achilles issues.

The England Under 20’s World Cup winner instantly impressed and took the sponsors man of the match award for his performance in the 0-0 stalemate.

Lewis Cook told afcb.co.uk

The way he rolls opponents reminds me of Jack Wilshere at times. Always looking to release players.
Very impressive! Can’t see how he does not get a run in the side after today.
