Kevin no Freind of Cherries again.

The last game of our so called easy run before the three games of death saw Eddie Howe make one change to the side that drew with Southampton on Sunday,Steve Cook coming in for the suspended Adam Smith.
Palace on a good run of recent home form surely fancied a home win against the inconsistent Cherries.
So it was that in the early exchanges,Palace started well, with the pacy Zaha causing problems ,skipping past Daniels and winning a corner, from which Schlupp fired narrowly over.
Bournemouth themselves were looking dangerous as well though, and the game was turning into a very open end to end battle between two sides desperate for points.
Indeed it was Bournemouth who took the lead,a well worked Andrew Surman corner finding its way to DEFOE unmarked who made no mistake dispatching into the bottom corner past Speroni,Palace complaining that King had held back Schlupp in the build up.Benteke saw a weak shot well saved by Begovic, and Sakho nearly bundled home from a corner.
It was up to our old mate Kevin Freind to let them straight back in it with a dubious penalty after Zaha had overrun the ball in the box and ran into Asmir Begovic outstretched arm, very clever.
It was left to MILIVOJEVIC to despatch a good penalty past Begovic who went the right way.
With Palace back in the game and with the crowd behind them, they took the lead shortly before half time, our old nemesis Scott DANN finishing from close range after some ball watching in the box failed to cut out a low cross.
This was tough on Cherries who had been well in the game and had dominated possession at times.
However,as the half time oranges were being pulled out of the cool box,Lewis Cook spotted DEFOE had moved off of his marker on the right, his perfectly weighted ball hooked in from a tight angle reminiscent of that famous Van Basten goal against England to send the travelling Cherries into dreamland.Surely a goal of the season contender.

HT Palace 2 AFCB 2

The second half started as the first had ended, both teams looking for a valuable three points, and both going for the win.
Early in the second half Defoe almost bagged his hat trick with a flick that he maybe should have done better with, while at the other end that man Dann fired over from close range, and Begovic tipped away a speculative Loftus-Cheek effort.
Sub Jordan Ibe also had a long range shot beaten out by Speroni.
With the clock ticking down and five minutes injury time on the board, our good old mate Kevin Freind was again at the centre of a dubious penalty decision, pointing to the spot with Zaha going nowhere again,Daniels feeling he had got the ball after Zaha had gone down yet again.
Inexplicably,Benteke selfishly took the ball from Milivojevic, and fired a weak penalty too close to Begovic who easily saved.
There was also time for more Kevin Freind controversy on the final whistle,Schlupp looking like he had handled in the goalmouth from Wilsons shot.
So a pulsating game and to my mind a fair result,we had the first half,Palace had the second.
Both teams will be dissapointed not to take the win though,Cherries more so considering the next 3 games.

Begovic 9 Good handling, penalty save, solid from set pieces
Francis 7 A good game for him but still a few silly mistakes
Ake 8 Consistently consistent
S Cook 8 Covered Franno well, the best partner for Ake
Daniels 6 Not his best performance
Fraser 6 Never really threatened, lots of stray passes
Stanislas 6 Ditto, tired near the end
Surman 7 Kept it ticking like he does
L Cook 8 Another good performance,what a talent.
King 6 Never really in the game
Defoe 8 Surprise surprise,Feed Defoe and he will score,it’s not rocket science

Ibe 6 Good and bad as usual
Wilson 6 Didn’t see much of the ball
Afobe 6 As above
